Jerusalem: Geography, Topography & Tactics

Dec 22nd

Full-day field trip discussing the roots of conflict with IDF Major (Res.) Elliot Chodoff, a leading military analyst.

During the day we will:


  •   Visit and discuss key locations of strategic importance throughout the ages.
  •   Analyze the history of pan-Arab terrorism;
  •   Discuss the threats facing Israel today;
  •   Visit Gilo,overlooking Beit Jala, from where sniper attacks occurred for many years;
  •   Stop at the Abu Dis Security Fence, to discuss the impact of the security barrier on eastern Jerusalem residents;
  •   Visit the Mount of Olives, the “Historic Basin,” and discuss possible solutions for peace.

Hanukkah candlelighting at the Inbal Hotel followed by festive celebrations and dinner at Jerusalem’s First Station.

Please note that candlelighting will be available each night of Hanukkah at the Inbal Hotel upon our return to the hotel.

Visit Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, responding to the needs of Jerusalem’s diverse population since 1902; treating patients of every race, religion and nationality. Meet and speak with staff from many nationalities and backgrounds.

Israel: A Mosaic of Culture & Religions

Dec 25th

Late start (9.30 am) to allow those returning from Bethlehem during the night to rest.

Field trip to the Carmel region with Druze tour guide, expert on minorities in Israel and ex-IDF officer, Ihab Zeidan:

  • Leave Jerusalem for Kfar Qara to meet Amna Kanana who is working for improved women’s rights within Palestinian society.
  • Spend time in the Druze village of Dalyat El Carmel to learn more about the Druze tradition and its secret religion, as well as a discussion of Druze loyalty to the State of Israel;
  • Enjoy a traditional Druze meal in Israel’s only kosher Druze restaurant.

Return to Jerusalem for Hanukkah candle lighting.

Remembering the Past; Looking to the Future

VIP tour of Magen David Adom in Jerusalem, learning how Israeli technology and know-how is changing the world.

Return to Inbal Hotel. Check-out for those leaving today (rooms to be vacated by 12.30pm).

“How I survived a terror attack without losing my respect for the humanity of the other side; how to defeat terror without giving up on your soul” – Kay Wilson, British-born motivational speaker, Israeli tour guide, jazz musician and cartoonist. She is the survivor of a brutal terror attack that occurred while she was guiding in December 2010.
